Brydgesiana [correspondence and ephemera], 1813-1823.

Sir Samuel Egerton Brydges established the Lee Priory Press in 1813 at Ickham near Canterbury. This unique portfolio, compiled by classical scholar and archdeacon Francis Wrangham (1769-1842), gathers most of the single sheets printed by the Lee Priory Press from 1813 until its closure ten years later. Also included are nine autograph letters from Brydges to Wrangham written from 1812 to 1817. Most of the letters are business-like and concern the status of upcoming Lee Priory publications. The portfolio appears to have been sold at the Wrangham auction on July 12, 1843 and eventually came into the possession of Samuel Putnam Avery, who donated it to the Grolier Club.
